2017 YTE World Championship Final in Paris

Disciples Escoffier International Asia, is hosting once a year its annual Young Talents Escoffier cooking competition, in Hong Kong at the restaurant and bar show every September.

Each disciples Escoffier Delegation from 8 countries are doing their own National pre selections and finals respectively. The winner of each delegations is then send to Hong Kong to represent his / her country at the Asian final. The competition is held over 3 days, where the young chefs must showcase their talents, starting with a skill contest on the first day. The next two days are purely based on their cooking skills, where Chef Emmanuel Souliere The President of the contest choses the recipes for them based on Chef Auguste Escoffier Guide Culinaire, the bible for all chefs.

We had the privilege to have Chef Michel Portos, two Michelin Star, as a guests judge. Apart from all the delegations presidents, Chef Robert Fontana, the key investigator and creator of the contest is also there to ensure fairness during the contest.

This time, after much stressed and deliberations from the judge panel, the young cheffrom China delegation, James Shoa Junting won the competition. By winning the Asian Young Talents Escoffier he was ensured a spot at the World Championship held in Paris in February of this year 2017.

After having spent 2 month preparing for the biggest challenge of his lifeand being coached by Chef David Jean Marteau, James went with  a delegation of 12 Escoffier members to support. This was only made possible by our generous sponsors:

We are pleased to announced that James finished in 4th place at the worl final.

This year Chef Nicolas Sale, Executive Chef of the Ritz Paris was the president of the jury for the international final.

As the time as arise again this year and as Chhina delegation finished its National pre selections and final, the young chef Johnson Wing will have the challenge to represent China in this coming September. A burden is on his shoulders as his goal is to do better than James and bring once again China to the world Championship in 2018 in Switzerland.
